Sync and the phone app
Sync between devices keeps your hosts, snippets, settings and vault in step across your computers, end-to-end encrypted. Teams shares hosts with people you work with. Both are optional and off by default.
Sync between devices
Switch on the Sync between devices service, then pair a second device with a QR code or a short code - both sides also see a verification code and confirm it matches before pairing finishes. You choose what syncs, category by category:

Before you confirm, the new device shows the mailbox and the devices already in the sync space. On a newly paired device the Vault category starts off: turn it on once you recognise every device in the list. Both devices need an up-to-date Synapse to pair; a code from an older version asks you to update both.
Everything is encrypted on your device (XChaCha20-Poly1305) before it's uploaded, and the keys never leave your devices. The server - called the mailbox - only ever sees encrypted records with random ids: no host names, passwords or keys.
The mailbox is a small PHP script. Host it yourself on any PHP 8 server with SQLite and the sodium extension instead of using the default one, and point Synapse at your own address.
Rename or remove a device from the device list at any time; removing one replaces the sync key so it can't read anything new. Delete sync data from the mailbox erases your encrypted records from the server entirely.
Teams
Teams shares hosts with people you work with, without sharing your own personal passwords. It uses shared, end-to-end encrypted team vaults on the same mailbox as device sync - invite people by code, and manage owners and members from the Teams window.
Agent hub on your phone
If you use AI coding agents through the Agent hub, turning on Show agents on my phone (Settings → Agent hub, off by default) syncs a short, secrets-removed summary of each agent - its name, host, status and any question waiting for you - as encrypted records, and syncs your replies back the same way. No terminal output is ever included.
The phone companion
A read-only companion app for iOS and Android is in development. It joins your sync space as another device and will show your Agent hub (with "Needs you" first and a reply box), your saved hosts and groups, and your vault - unlocking a secret needs Face ID, fingerprint or your passcode. It doesn't connect over SSH yet. It isn't published to the App Store or Play Store at this stage.
